Context Architecten De Bruyn has built its practice on years of knowledge, craftsmanship and a deep respect for the places they work in. Yet their identity had become fragmented and no longer fully reflected the character of the studio today. For De Bruyn, context is key. Their architecture builds on what exists, whether through renovation, restoration or new construction. The identity needed to do the same.

Concept & Design We looked back at the roots of De Bruyn: a family history of craftsmanship, making and art. Rather than turning that history into nostalgia, we translated its qualities into a contemporary visual language.

The name Architecten De Bruyn was reduced to its essence: De Bruyn. A strong, distinctive wordmark replaces unnecessary complexity, with the letterforms taking inspiration from old wooden type and handcrafted printmaking. Strong shapes and sharp details give the identity a solid, crafted feel.

The colour palette follows the same principle. Earthy tones, brown at the core, connect the identity to materiality, history and the physical nature of architecture.

Typography combines the refined character of Tobias with the sharper, more contemporary Bugrino, creating a balance between tradition and today. The secondary font Favorit adds a more geometric, architectural voice to smaller texts, bringing structure to the system.

Across the identity, we focused on what matters. (White)space, typography and imagery are given room to speak. Nothing is added simply for decoration.

The same thinking continues into the website. The website puts De Bruyn’s portfolio at the centre. A clear structure gives each project room to speak, combining generous imagery with a simple, intuitive navigation across architecture and restoration.

Result The result is an honest, grounded and contemporary visual identity that only adds what is needed. The new identity gives De Bruyn a recognisable voice across its communication, while leaving enough space for the projects themselves to take centre stage.
