Our approach

We start with listening. Getting to know you and distilling the story that makes your brand or project unique, are key. We will then translate your story into well-thought-out design. We don’t pretend we’re experts in everything (except punctuation). Instead, we prefer a collaborative approach: combining your expertise with our own.

Deadlines are sacred and communication is key. Big or small, established or start-up, we create stories in a clear and simple way and aim for the biggest impact.

Lara Berg

Lara is Superset’s Swiss pocketknife. Having both American and European roots, she balances stamina with sensibility. Lara is a true people person who prefers creating together. Her inner drive to structure, tidy up and make things look good, makes graphic design as natural to her as walking. Design for Lara is also a wonderful way to discover new worlds. Listening and observing help her to grasp the essence of a project, tell genuine stories and find the right design solution for her clients. Lara enjoys working in close collaboration with others. Her aim is to show people that beautiful, durable and carefully crafted design is always within reach; it doesn’t always need an extensive marketing strategy behind it. Before joining Superset, Lara learned from the best at Base Design Brussels and New York, travelling the world and working for international clients of all sorts. Lara is also a dedicated teacher of Visual Design at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent, where she loves teaching her students as much as learning from them.

Fran Van de Velde

Fran is Superset’s mossy rock: a warm heart with a cool mind. As a born optimist, she knows that anything is possible if you take it positively. In her work, she is both rigorous and easygoing. Her architectural background gives her spatial eyes, her curiosity gives her intelligent visual thinking, and her healthy diet gives her a ticket to immortality (Fran is going to design until she is 120). Able and ready to handle everything from the smallest pixel to the biggest billboard, Fran makes designing look easy. She is the golden ratio of Superset, ensuring that projects are eye-catching, thoughtful and beautiful. Fran established her own practice ‘Studio Veldwerk’ immediately upon graduation in 2012, followed by Superset five years later. Her steady perspective, healthy habits and friendly curls keep the studio running like an omega 3-oiled machine, from designing to planning, to curating the office playlist and feeding social media.

Saskia Wierinck

Saskia is Superset’s particle accelerator. She doesn’t wait for ideas but goes straight after them. Having co-led a Dutch design agency with a team of seventeen people has taught her she needs people around her (and podcasts) to get the best out of life and herself. Besides her 24 years of experience, Saskia brings her reliable, straightforward and spontaneous self to the daily work-life at Superset. Her disarming laugh is contagious and legendary at Superset (and the neighbourhood). Saskia shows that it’s perfectly possible to be both confident and compassionate, headstrong and flexible, a good listener and a natural speaker. She is an all-round communicator and a curious learner because “the eyes are useless when the mind is blind”. Since 2010, Saskia also passes on her vision and skills to final-year Visual Design students at the LUCA School of Arts in Ghent. Seeing an added value in every person and project, Saskia is like a supercharger who helps others to grow. Design for her means working together to make the world a more beautiful place, serif by sans-serif.
